hi! generally we say that should be in your own database, and you just store a key/ID in metadata in Stripe that you then use to look up the row in your database later.

Ah okay, so to confirm/restate: there is no concept of a custom object in stripe, and you would foreign key between your own system and the base object in stripe

Generally yes. metadata is the closest concept in Stripe, but it's mostly limited to key/values so not too useful for larger, more complex objects
