Hi, let me help you with this.

#

I am not exactly sure what's your challenge here.

The following endpoint:

https://docs.stripe.com/api/tax/calculations/create

Takes parameter line_items.tax_behavior enum (inclusive, exclusive)

When dealing with tax settings object you can apply defaults.tax_behavior to be exclsuive inclusive OR inferred_by_currency

https://docs.stripe.com/api/tax/settings/object

Why can I not use inferred_by_currency with the calculation API?

Otherwise I have no idea wether or not the tax_behavior is inclusive or exclusive without mapping that out per currency

What happens if you exclude the line_items.tax_behavior?

waxen trench
#

It defaults to exclusive so in my current test case for GBP it should be inclusive

Could you please share an example taxcalc_xxx?

Yes but not at the price line_items level

It seems to me that tax_rates might be a better option for my integration?

If my customer in stripe connect sets inferred_by_currency when doing tax_calculations I have no idea wether or not to chose inclusive or exclusive

Leaving me at the point where tax_rates might be more successful?

Hmm, well Tax Rates only work with certain APIs/surfaces so depends what it is you're doing

#

I am creating invoices with invoice line items

I would prefer to be able to use automatic tax but if I cannot specify the exclusive / inclusive without knowing per country then the tax calculation API kinda bottle necks me from getting to use automatic tax

halcyon moon
#

I'd agree that the calculations API should support an inferred_by_currency enum โ€“ will file that feedback

waxen trench
#

Is there a way to be notified on that or is it something that typically takes a few months to get filtered to the right API team

halcyon moon

I can take your acct_xxx to associate with the request, and that way if/when it's worked on you'd be notified
