I think you mean a hold and not a deposit? Do you want to charge customers a portion of the amount when they make a rental reservation or just place a hold on their card for that amount?

I'm thinking more of a hold in the event of cancellation of the reservation or failure to return the rented item.

If you need a longer hold window, you can create another hold within that 7-day window and cancel the original hold. If that second hold fails, you can decide to be safe and capture the funds from the first hold or take the risk and continue with the reservation anyway
