What country is Jersey/JE2 3QE a part of if not GB/UK?

frigid storm
#

it's complicated british colonialism stuff, but Jersey is its own country

#

You can see Google Pay recognizes it separately

ripe obsidian
#

Okay so you would expect us to

  1. Reject that postal code with United Kingdom
  2. Have Jersey as a separate country
#

It's tricky when those things change "recently" for sure

frigid storm
#

Well, I would expect 1. certainly, but I don't think 2 is an issue, I believe you do support Jersey as a separate country, lemme check rq. Jersey has it's own ISO 3166 code "JE", and it's been its own country since Stripe's founding

ah yes you're right we do #2 already

#

also why the heck do we clear the form when you change countries

#

but yeah okay I do think this is a bug too (+ what I just found because it'd be annoying for a Jersey resident to realize they need to fix the country and then have it half cleared)

Yeah, i imagine this is a very low traffic issue (i think this is our second jersey customer ever), but it raised a lot of alarm bells and I was surprised when the AddressElement just let you check out with an incorrect postal code

ripe obsidian
#

yeah those are hard to detect for us too unless someone raises it so I appreciate the flag!

frigid storm
#

awesome! thank you! anything else you need from me? should I check here for an update? (again low priority issue just wanted to flag)

Next step is likely to contact our support team: https://support.stripe.com/contact and mention this issue + this Discord thread and they can help follow up with you once it's fixed (but might take a while)

Great, will do, for now we'll just block JE, GY, and IM postcodes on our UK checkout. thanks!
