Hey there
You basically just want to set redirect: if_required (https://docs.stripe.com/js/setup_intents/confirm_setup#confirm_setup_intent-options-redirect) when you call confirmSetup()
You will still need to set a return_url but for a payment method type like SEPA Debit the redirect will not occur since it isn't required for that type

Mostly bank-redirects (https://docs.stripe.com/payments/bank-redirects) and some others like buy now, pay later (https://docs.stripe.com/payments/buy-now-pay-later). I don't have a canonical list -- you should test out all the different payment method types you intend to support and that is the best way to know.
