that's normal. now you need to confirm the PaymentIntent on the frontend to trigger the 3DS flow.

is there a way to confirm the payment via server? because i have a custom 3ds flow

you can confim on the backend, but if 3DS is needed then you have to ask your user to come back to your website/app to go though the 3DS flow.

to confirm on the backend i need to use the stripe js on the server?

well not really. Like what happened here is you did an off-session payment, which declined. So now the next thing is you need to confirm the PaymentIntent again, but on session so that it will enter the requires_action state(and then you can handle the action, which in your case is probably to access the next_action.redirect_to_url.url)

so once you're ready and have the customer back, you would call the confirm PaymentIntent API again, without off_session:true , and then handle the action
