There isn't any sort of public documentation or tech talk as far as I know.
Most likely the product engineers read the documentation and (may or may not have) had a POC to escalate technical questions to. Unfortunately those processes are very old and likely had no publicly available paper trail, so we can't really expand much even if we wanted to
