yes
then once you receive the checkout.session.completed you can get the payment method ID by retrieving the PaymentIntent on the Checkout Session and use that to update the customer's invoice_settings.default_payment_method
Please provide me complete documentation.
We don't have any specific documentation for this flow. You'd just make a call to POST /v1/customers/:id and update the invoice_settings[default_payment_method] field with the pm_xxx ID: https://docs.stripe.com/api/customers/update#update_customer-invoice_settings-default_payment_method
Complete reference documentation for the Stripe API. Includes code snippets and examples for our Python, Java, PHP, Node.js, Go, Ruby, and .NET libraries.
Thanks
I need a help as, checkout.session.completed for zero dollar subscription plan does not have key "payment_method" but I see for payment which has a some dollar amount does have "payment_method" key.
Yes, if there's no payment (i.e. zero-amount subscription) then payment_intent will be null. In that scenario you can expand the subscription field and use the default_payment_method field
