Can you clarify exactly what you mean by an "ongoing" schedule?
This is essentially the way Subscriptions work in general

Hi, sorry, I mean a never ending recurring payment by ongoing ... when creating the subscription schedule it seems that you have to either set the iterations/number of payments or an end date on which the payments stop. Is that not correct?
Nope, if the schedule is set to end_behavior: release (https://docs.stripe.com/api/subscription_schedules/create#create_subscription_schedule-end_behavior) then the Subscription will continue on with whatever is set for the last phase

No problem. Feel free to use test clocks (https://docs.stripe.com/billing/testing/test-clocks) as well to test all of this stuff end-to-end so you make sure it behaves how you want
