hi! I guess it's just an oversight and we don't allow metadata to be set on type:"paypal" PaymentMethods today. I'll mention it to the team working on this.

if this is an important feature request I'd suggest opening a support ticket at https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true to track it.

Other than that, the workaround I'd suggest is storing this 'preference' in your database with a column that contains the ID of the PaymentMethod, instead.

Got it. I prefer to wait until the issue is resolved because the logic is based on the preferred field. Right now, the application is still in development.
