The free trial already ended, so we cannot just update the subscription and unmark the option to pause at trial end if customer did not provide their payment method

We don't really handle Dashboard functionality, though that sounds like a great feature request. You would need to follow-up with Support on that one: https://support.stripe.com/contact/email
