Hi ๐ will you have someone staffing your photobooths, or do you intend for them to be self-serve?
Hello Toby, we intend for them to be self-serve but they will eventually need some kind of maintenance so there will be some kind of staff eventually although not on a daily basis
You should continue discussing your use case with our Support and Sales teams then. Last I heard, Stripe Terminal integrations are typically not permitted to be operated solely by customers and require a trained attendant present. But as that is more of a policy limitation, it's not something my team or I are the most familiar with. But I have heard of that limitation before and want to make sure it won't be a blocker for you before you put too much into your project.
Is there someone in support that could help?
sales team communication has been horrible as I mentioned
๐ I'm just hopping in since toby has to head out soon - you can try talking to support (https://support.stripe.com/contact) more to see if they have any other ideas, but as far as I know there really does need to be someone attending the reader
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support site provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
Great, just had to wait more than a month, several emails and one failed consultation call for this answer... sigh
I guess I'll look elsewhere for a solution that works, thanks anyways
Sorry it wasn't the answer you were hoping for ๐ฆ
do anyone of you know of another solution that may offer self-serving outside of Stripe by any chance?
Not off the top of my head, no
can you explain why there needs to be someone attending the reader?
Without going into too much detail I believe this is because card networks like mastercard/visa categorize unattended readers differently and have way more rules/regulations about how they can be used
alright, can stripe API be used to process payment using a third-party magnetic card reader?
I guess what I am trying to ask is how can I leverage stripe API into a self serving kiosk of sorts, I know I am probably not the first person asking about something like this.
No, you can't use Stripe with a 3rd party reader right now
thanks for answering my questions, does this thread expire? I may have more questions in the future
We typically close out threads after some period of inactivity, but if you have more questions you're welcome to come back and ask them in the form to start up a new thread ๐
