OK, so future dated payments on the card I used would always fail without user interaction?
yes
In production, if the cusomer, uses their own card what would happen?
would those future dated payments pass, they would be small amounts typically <£100
Or how would I ensure that off-session payments would go through once the first payment is made/ the card has been initially confirmed?
depends what the bank decides on each specific payment.
if you use the integration you describe that's the correct approach and we'll attempt to claim exemptions
