Did you see the 24-hour expiration time frame in a guide? If so, could you link it here?
Portal sessions actually expire much sooner:
New portal sessions expire after a 5 minute period. If a customer uses it within that time period, the session expires within 1 hour of the most recent activity.

I might have read some article online or maybe I just got confused, I'm reading a lot of docs in the last few days, 5 min and 1h is better but would be possible to just keep 5min?
Not currently possible, no. If a customer is active in the portal session within those first 5 minutes, the session will only then be given that 1h time window
