Setup Intent is for saving payment method only.
To create a Checkout Session for subscription, the mode should be subscription. I'd recommend checking the guide here: https://docs.stripe.com/billing/subscriptions/build-subscriptions?platform=web&ui=stripe-hosted
they already have a subscription and are trialing, I just need to save the payment method
In my post, I left one key\value from my request out-- subscription_data: {trial_end: 1716012183} is also included
If you only want to save a payment method with mode: 'setup' in Checkout Session , line_items shouldn't be set: https://docs.stripe.com/payments/save-and-reuse?platform=web&ui=stripe-hosted
line_items is only needed for payment and subscription.
I tried that. When I remove line_items, I get the message from my post:
Could not create checkout session -- no line items present
is that because subscription_data is present? I am goign to remove that and test
Can you share the request ID (req_xxx) of the error? Here’s how you can find it: https://support.stripe.com/questions/finding-the-id-for-an-api-request
