Resubmitted the ticket, as something came up and had to step away from my desk and it got closed
before the previous one got closed, the support person asked 'why does tha invoice have to be a draft'
I am looking at drafts, as it is my understanding that invoices are drafts before they get finalized
and the idea is to allow our customer to change things, as they would in Stripe Checkout
just making the user interface a tad different
as in, let them list users and permissions, and we'll figure out which prices to use and how many seats to assign
Hello there
Hi
No you can't have an inital draft Invoice generated from a Subscription
When you create a Subscription it will always created a finalized Invoice
Thus if you want to "change things" then you would wait until all the details are finalized before you actually create the Subscription
Thanks for clearing that up! Is there any API that can be used to calculate amounts based on prices quantities and promo codes
or is doing arithmetic on our side the only way to get that sort of thing?
You likely want to use the Upcoming Invoice API: https://docs.stripe.com/api/invoices/upcoming
This can preview a Subscription creation and what the initial Invoice would look like
That sounds right
When looking at that, i somehow missed that you can use subscription items rather than an instantiated subscription and thus use it before creation
this is awesome
Looks like I'm all set
thanks!
Sure!
quick follow up question
can this be used to preview changes to existing subscriptions?
(using both a subscription id and items)
Yes
