When subscription is created and renewed will checkout.session.completed be trigerred? I hope not because users are paying for subscriptions in app with react-stripe-elements
Not sure I fully grasp the question. Are you using checkout sessions API for creating subscription?

checkout is only for one-time payments
and subscriptions are in frontend with react-stripe-elements

checkout.session.completed is only generated for Checkout Sessions API. So no, it shouldn't be triggered when you create subscriptions using Subscriptions API directly
