This invoice is not yet paid. You should listen to invoice.paid event, so that you can retrieve its associated payment_intent, and from there get the payment_method.
So a payment_method will be linked to a payment_intent that is created as part of a subscription charge, only when the payment succeeds?
I assume you want to get the payment_method that make the payment_intent succeeded, right?
Since the payment_intent can fail I would like to also know the payment_method that got rejected. The payment_method field is null on this rejected payment. Is this expected ?
the you should listen to payment_intent.payment_failed and get the payment_method from last_payment_error
Thank you for the insight!
From what I understand a payment_method will be linked to a payment_intent, when the payment succeeds. If I want to know the payment method that failed I should check last_payment_error.
One final question before I let you go, can subscription invoice be linked to multiple payment_intents/charges?
No
