Yes negative invoice items would be the correct way as currently you can only apply one coupon to a Subscription.

Perfect! And do taxes get calculated after or before the discount is applied?

I believe taxes would be calcuated based on the finalized amount (so including the negative invoice items). I'd recommend testing this out though
