I'm using checkout in embedded mode, so I cannot use the successurl
Hi, let me help you with this.
What do you mean by "user has declined this payment" exactly?
When they abandoned the checkout process, or when their payment method was declined?
When testing paypal in the test environment I can press the button "decline payment" or so
So I either can "authorize payment" or not. (in the testing environment on stripe).
I get sent a invoice.payment_failed event then
and get redirected to my returnURL
then, my client has the checkout session ID and would like to know the state of the checkout session.
So, can I link the failed payment to the checkout session?
Are you creating a Checkout with mode: "subscription"?
yes
invoice.payment_failed will have a subscription proprety, then you can fetch a Checkout Session by Subscription ID: https://docs.stripe.com/api/checkout/sessions/list#list_checkout_sessions-subscription
