The 4242 card will succeed. The expiry date won't matter in this scenario. What is it you are trying to test?

Aah okay thats my bad then, I assume I can use a dedicated expiring card then ?
I am releasing an annual subscription and just double checking our cancel on no payment stuff still works as for the monthly subscriptions

What you can do is create a Subscription for a Customer with a valid card, then attach one that will fail with an expired card decline and advance the test clock
