To refund the latest charge on a subscription, you'd retrieve it and expand the latest_invoice using expand[]=latest_invoice
https://stripe.com/docs/expand
That invoice object then has the payment_intent you can use with the refund API
awesome. we also have a mid-term upgrade/downgrade option. is there a good way to check if the latest_invoice refers to a midterm upgrade, versus if it refers to a renewal?
Yep, you should take a look at the billing_reason for that: https://docs.stripe.com/api/invoices/object#invoice_object-billing_reason
