Thanks @candid cairn , I can do that. What surprised me is that Google Pay worked immediately without verifying the subdomains. Once the domain was verified, it appeared as an option in subdomains. That was the part that confused me.

Yeah, google pay behaves a bit differently and has different requirements compared to Apple Pay
