I believe support for that was not added until a recent API version. Finding info on that

I inquired about that, does that mean I need to get a new API key as well?

Nope, you can use the same API key. Version is a thing that is specified separately from that and you can actually set a different version on each request

oh so that is specified it headers it is not automatic?

Your account has a default API version that you can see from your dashboard. https://dashboard.stripe.com/developers
But API requests can override that by specifying their own version in that header
