Hello! We'll be with you shortly. Below are links to other discussions we've had with you in the past week in case you want to review that information. If your question is related to one of these previous discussions, please provide a comprehensive summary of the current state and what you need help with now. We help many users simultaneously, so a summary allows us to resolve your issue as soon as possible.

@native shadow normal 3DS flow would happen, same as with any or challenge

Ok thanks! That brings up two more questions:

  1. When automatic determines that we should request authentication from the institution, how does it determine the preference for frictionless vs challenge ?
  2. Is it correct to say that the 'any' or 'challenge' options will lead to an equal amount or greater requests for 3DS than 'automatic'? Or are there cases where Stripe determines a request is risky, that the institution itself wouldn't have identified as risky in the 'any' case, and then forces the bank to attempt 3DS authentication?

  1. It doesn't, we choose and we don't explain why or how
  2. yes that seems right

Just to confirm for #2, you're saying that "'any' or 'challenge' options will lead to an equal amount or greater requests for 3DS than 'automatic'" seems right, correct?

yes since with any you absically force us to do it and with challenge you force us to do 3DS with a real challenge. automatic lets us determine whether we think it's needed/recommended/etc. so it'd happen less
