Yep, payouts are separate from transfers. You can think of transfers as funds moving from one Stripe account to another, while payouts are funds moving from Stripe to an external account

Which charge type are you using in this case? Destination charges or separate charges & transfers?

Gotcha. In that case, you could wait to create a transfer to begin with. No funds will be available for the Express account to pay out until you make the transfer.
