@maiden moat yes you can pin to a more recent API version and it should work fine.
You can also override the default API version in 6.0.0 if you want (though it means our types won't be correct)

Which way do you recommend?
pin to the more recent version vs. override?
I would pin the more recent version, then upgrade. Always best to be on the latest API version if you can
