Hello! You could do the free months as a trial, then have them pay for a 9 month Subscription, then schedule a change to a 12 month Subscription with a Subscription Schedule: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/subscription-schedules

interesting, thanks! would the invoice be generated for the 9 months prior to the free trial? we'd like the prepay to occur at intial sign-up

You can do the 9 month Subscription first, then do 3 months of trial after.
