Hi ๐
With SC&T, the Charge or payment exists solely on the Platform (your) account. The Transfer is the only thing the Connected Account can see. We do recommend using the source_transaction and transfer_group parameters when creating a Transfer to more easily link the Transfer back to the original Charge.
trying to wrap my head around this,
so we should use the source_transaction to identify what 'purchase' this transfer is for, and a transfer_group to identify other transfers from that same 'purchase', correct?
The connection in stripe between the connected account and the transfer amount is made when the transfer is created correct? and the link between that connected account and the source transaction can therefor be made via connected account -> transfer -> source_transaction?
Yes, both of those are valid ways to approach this. However, we would also recommend storing your own data to ensure the reference between the Charge and the Transfer are clear.
got it, makes perfect sense
thank you for the clarifications! ๐
Sure thing, happy to help ๐
