Hi there! Did you build this app or were you invited by someone else to test this app?
we have another team that's building the app for us. now we want to test it, so we logged into the app owner account and retrieved the install link. we're trying to test in a new account we just created by going to stripe.com and signing up
Got it. If you want to test the app in an account separate from the one that built it, you'll need to publish the app.
Hey! I'm working with Paul (I'm one of the app authors).
When we go to the settings panel for our app version it gives us two links:
- Live mode install link
- Test mode install link
We believed that we could use the test mode install link to install the "external test" version of the app using these credentials, is that incorrect?
We were hoping there was a way to verify that this OAuth stuff is configured correctly prior to submitting the entire app for app review with the new settings.
So the updated version of the app with the new OAuth configuration is set as both the "Test Mode" version as well as the "External Test" version.
Can we test this works prior to app submission and review?
i just tried in the account that built it, and i'm still getting invalid install link
Yeah I had the same experience earlier.
Thanks for the additional context. Give me a few minutes to double check the right flow for testing in this case
If the App was created on Account A and you're trying to install it in test mode on Account B, this is considered an external test. This means the App needs to be public in order to run this kind of test install
Can you share the exact steps you're following?
i tried both from account A and account B
here's my steps for A
in account A:
- go to the settings panel for our app version
- copy the Test mode install link
- paste it location bar of the browser
- invalid install link
Here's what we see from the app panel also:
I think we've made some progress here. There were another set of install links on the "External test" tab. We are testing to see if they work for us.
Ah, interesting. I was expecting "Distribution" in the screenshot above to be "private" but, since it's "public", you should be able to click "External test" and then the "Getting Started" button
Filling out the form there will display an invite link. You can share that invite link with Account B
Yeah we're seeing these now:
And they seem to have let me install the app into an unrelated account, so we're proceeding to see if this unblocks us.
@steep vigil @untold iron let me know if you're unblocked!
thank you. it's working for me. you're awesome!
