https://stripe.com/docs/payments/accept-a-payment?platform=web#:~:text=You also need to specify success_url%2C a page on your website that Checkout returns your customer to after they complete the payment

That's how Checkout Session in hosted mode was designed

once finished, the customer need to go back to your website

so that's why you need to set a sucessUrl

Checkout session url is provided to customer by email, so they initially land on checkout.stripe.com host. I am not sure I see the idea of sending them to our website.

You can simply implement a success page in your website.
