Hey, checking in here. Not sure on the specifics on the app you've shown, but I believe this is related to the public/external test installs which are unavailable in test mode: https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-apps/test-app

I did look at this doc but I don't think this is it because I installed the above app from the marketplace. The docs talk about releasing a test version of your app that hasn't been reviewed or launched publicly yet.

Essentially I only want the app icon to be active when the user is in live mode

Yeah unfortunately I'm not sure then. AFAICT that isn't configurable in the app manifest or otherwise. I'd recommend writing in to the Stripe Apps team to understand if/how that is possible: https://support.stripe.com/contact
