If the payment has been charged, the refund can be made on the original payment

#

If the payment hasn't been charged, then I don't see where money movement is involved is here

The employee charges their company car at home. Our app does collect the energy transaction information, however, there is no payment instantiated.

Ideally, the employer receives an invoice with the employer being the issuer. The question is, can the employee, whose only owning a setup intent, create an invoice and/or receive a payment?

#

For clarification:

  • Employer → connected account
  • Employee → setup intent

Employer shall send 10 euros to the employee.

#

I'm sorry, if it's still no clear. Perhaps I need to explain this in more detail?

Can you illustrate in an example?

The employee has a payment method.
The employer has a connected account.

How can the employer send money to the employees bank account, given the payment method?

grizzled zephyr
#

That will not be possible. Stripe doesn't support sending the funds to a payment method

#

The funds can only be charged to a payment method, but not another way round

Though so. Is there any other way? For example, the employee could onboard a connected account as well. Then both connected accounts could surely transfer funds between them, right?

To send funds to an employee, he/she has been onboarded as the connected account with verification.

The funds can't be transferred between connected accounts, but you can transfer funds from connected account A to platform, then to connected B from the platform, i.e. connected account A -> platform -> connected account B

So, Stripe does not offer anything similar to what e.g. PayPal offers with sending funds from one account to another?

#

And also, there is no other way but to have ever single app user onboard a connected account?

grizzled zephyr
#

Yup, Stripe doesn't offer transfer from one connected account to another. Sending funds to a person requires verification, so it can only be done via connected account flow

#

Understood. Makes sense. Just one more question. Does the onboarding of a private person as a connected account differ to the onboarding of a company?

grizzled zephyr
#

The information collected can be different. If you use Stripe hosted onboarding page, Stripe will collect required information accordingly depending on the requirements

Thank you very much river, this helped a lot! Have a great day!
