Hi there!
Hi there 👋 sorry if it's slipping my mind, but I'm not recalling any Pre-Approval objects in our API, and think I may not be grasping what you're asking.
I have an example SI that you can look at if you wish
That may help

Hm, that's an already succeeded Setup Intent. There isn't anything to expire about it, it has completed its lifecycle.
but that is not tied to an actual "charge' for the user. That will come at a later time when the store "launches" the product and "captures" the transaction
Let me get an actual example for you.
Yup, Setup Intents aren't related to Charges, they're used for setting up Payment Methods rather than charging them.
Ok so here is one example just now : seti_1OVELtJZ74rUEztmf1IdrbKm
I basically authorized a payment to be collected at a later date when I decide (the store). Let me know when you have that open and I will complete it from my end
That's a Setup Intent, it's not related to a payment, can you elaborate on what you're doing to authorize a payment?
I just completed the transaction now.
What does completing the transaction mean?
basically charging the user.
Initially I was not charged. Think of it like a preorder. And when the product is ready for launch the store completes the "authorization" and the user is charged. My quetion was, that initial "authorization", does it expire after a period of time? say the product only launches in 3 months time
Sorry, I still don't know what authorization you're talking about. The authorization on a Setup Intent does nothing to preapprove future payments. They can be used to set up Payment Methods ahead of time, but then each Payment Intent you create will trigger an authorization and may be declined by the issuer.
That initial setup intent I sent you seti_1OVELtJZ74rUEztmf1IdrbKm does it expire after a while ?
Nope, there is nothing about it to expire.
ok thanks
But future payments may still be declined, just because the Setup Intent completed successfully, that does not mean future payments are guaranteed to succeed.
