hello! future payments that are done off-session with that card typically wouldn't require 3DS then in that case.

So to set up a future MIT, we just have to pass the setup_future_usage : off_session parameter?

yep

To use merchant-initiated transactions, you need to authenticate the card either when it’s being saved or on the first payment. Finally, you need to get an agreement from the customer (also referred to as a “mandate”) in order to charge their card at a later point.

This part is a bit confusing. What does the mandate here refer to? Should we also pass the mandate object in the request? Or just a confirmation from the user that this card would be used for future payments on the frontend would be enough?

Finally, you need to get an agreement from the customer (also referred to as a “mandate”) in order to charge their card at a later point. - what this sentence means is that you need an agreement from the customer (which is sometimes also known as a "mandate"). It's not that you literally need to pass the mandate object. There's one exception here, which is for India issued cards where a mandate is required for off-session payments

Thank you, that clears it up. In the subsequent MIT can we pass raw card information?

sour karma

are you using network tokens?

crisp frost
#

No we are a PCI compliant entity. So we store cards securely in our card vault

Can you write in via https://support.stripe.com/contact/email and i'll help redirect your query to the right team? This is a lot more complex than what we can address here on this channel unfortunately

#

let me know your account id so that I can track down the support ticket

account id: acct_1MtnEhEOqOywnAIx

#

Okay, will raise a support mail

#

But is there a possible solution to this?

sour karma
#

it'd be good if you do it right now and let me know once it's been sent

#

possibly yes, but I'll need another team that's more familiar with this to look into your use case and get back to you

crisp frost
#

I've raised it

alright, I've found it, I'll make sure your ticket is routed to the right team, they'll respond on the ticket
