Generally the idea is that you'd create the Customer with the Test Clock from the start (https://stripe.com/docs/api/customers/create#create_customer-test_clock)

That would mean circumventing our normal customer & subscription creation flows. I would be forced to in-effect mock those with a script when creating a test_clock, so that I could then test a renewal

Then unfortunately your only other option right now is to use the dashboard to add it on - I know adding this ability to the API is something that's been requested in the past, but I don't believe they have any specific timelines for supporting it right now
