Hello! We'll be with you shortly. Below are links to other discussions we've had with you in the past week in case you want to review that information. If your question is related to one of these previous discussions, please provide a comprehensive summary of the current state and what you need help with now. We help many users simultaneously, so a summary allows us to resolve your issue as soon as possible.

Hi 👋

Do you have a new question about this?

stray helm

Even if it's better to use destination payments, is there a way to achieve this effect in the short term?

flat prism
#

They only way would be to retrieve the Customer Portal configuration object from your platform account and use that data to create a new one on the Express account

stray helm
#

Could we just retrieve the object and use the same configuration object with every express account?

flat prism
#

If you are creating customer portal sessions on the express account, each express account will need their own configuration object

stray helm
#

Ahh so we will have to create a new configuration object, and we would have to manually map each of the fields from the retrieved platform configuration?

flat prism
#

Correct

stray helm
#

Got it

#

And is there any documentation about why not to make direct payments to express connect accounts?

flat prism
#

Not explicitly as such, no.

Hey @little minnow , do you have any more details on the benefits of using destination charges instead of direct charges to connect accounts?

little minnow
#

I think snufkin pretty much covered all of the core reasons in the previous thread

#

And just to be really clear, this is specifically what we recommend for express accounts - if you were using Standard connect then direct charges would be the right choice

stray helm
#

Interesting

#

What's are the main differences between standard connect accounts and express connect accounts? Originally we wanted to use the express accounts to use manual payouts (if I remember correctly)

#

It seems like Express accounts are aimed more at less sophisticated users and have a more user-friendly onboarding process?

Actually, I'd say Standard is the best option for users who are in a time crunch since it requries the least amount of integration effort

stray helm
#

When you say integration effort, are you referring to engineering integration or customer integration?

#

And in what ways does it require less integration effort?

little minnow
#

Not sure what you mean by engineering vs customer integration, but to summarize - standard accounts have access to a full dashboard that gives them a lot of freedom to do things like process their refunds, change their settings, etc (express accoutns would only have access to a light dashboard and you have to handle all refunds)

So effectively express accounts give the platform more control?

Yes
