I could force them to pay at a certain point before the negative balance, but they would always have "dead credits" in their account - its a catch 22
I'm not fully following - in your scenario do you have Stripe connected accounts that you're attributing credits to? Or are these just users/accounts that you're keeping track of on your end and you're just using stripe for payments?
im keeping track of the "credits" and using stripe checkout for the replenishment
Gotcha! And your issue is that sometimes your users go over the number of credits that they've paid for, and reconciling that back to 0 would require a <$.50 charge
i guess im asking if i can charge the user for a partial payment after they delete their account
The problem with charging less that $0.50 is that you're at the risk of losing money because the stripe fee may end up being more than the charge itself. If you really want to go down that route and make the small charges you can talk to support (https://support.stripe.com/contact) to see if there's any internal features that would allow you to do this, but really I'd recommend that you rework your system so that your users can't go negative like this
i just saw a money pit forming - in a effort to make my app usable - it might be the cost of doing business
not sure i was thinking was the solution here
thanks for your help
happy to help! Sorry it's likely not the answer you were hoping for
I believe it's $0.31
But it'll really depend on the specifics of your account (country, what features you're using, etc)
