since our service has some post processing work to do after user make a payment successfully, we want to refund the payment if the post-processing failed

But it's impossible to create an Invoice if you already have paid for the service separately.
" When sending invoices that have already been paid, there will be no reference to the payment in the email." this is from your API doc
yeah that's about the payment attached to that specific Invoice though, it just will not work for your use-case
