it looks like the customer paid via the hosted invoice page and a Source was created and automatically attahed to the Customer

But when I created and paid an invoice in the stg environment, it was not set in sources.

If I create an invoice and pay it, is it set to sources?

hmmmm, so we did make a change recently such that the hosted invoice page now creates PaymentMethods instead of Sources. That customer that had a Source created was back in Sept. Do you know of a more recent customer that paid using the hosted invoice page (maybe sometime in end Nov) and if it's creating a Source or Payment method now?

we don't have any public release about this unfortunately. I think your current account shouldn't be creating Sources in the hosted Invoice page anymore in live mode right now. However, it'd be best to take a look at a more recent customer payment to confirm. If you're unsure or can't find a more recent example, I think the best course of action here would be to write in to https://support.stripe.com/contact/email mentioning that you made payment in test mode using the Hosted Invoice Page, and a Payment Method was created. However, in live mode, a Source was created. Provide the corresponding example object IDs. And ask if you make payment using the Hosted Invoice Page in livemode now, will it be a Source or Payment Method that is created
