This functionality (updating quantity) is not available for the subscription in the example you shared because there are multiple items on the subscription (pro & plus for students, here).
Note the current limitations of the portal: https://stripe.com/docs/customer-management#customer-portal-limitations
If subscriptions use any of the following, customers can only cancel them in the portal (they canβt update such subscriptions):
- Multiple products
- ...
Dang. Okay, I assumed I could because I can create the subscription (and enable adjustment of the quantities) in the checkout portal. Sorry, for not reading the docs closely enough. I'll have to think of a new model for my site licenses.

Correct, you can adjust any item quantity you like via the API
