@crude prism Hello! Your flow could work but each Standard account will have full control over the capture. So if they want to they can just capture immediately and get their fudns
would they have to do that from their dashboard?
they can do this in the Dashboard or the API
My worry is that you are trying to work around some limitations without fully understanding your overall integration and the risks here
Would love some elaboration on that! Definitely want to understand everything here
I can't really elaborate, it feels liek you already had a deep discussion and aren't asking your real question. This is just my gut based on experience talking to people here
Ultimately: If you use Standard accounts you always use Direct Charges and the connected account has full control over everything
Definitely asking the real question! We actually are using direct charges
But cannot control payouts ๐ฆ
So it seems like the flow will work?
So really if your goal is to hold funds so that the connected account can't get their hands on it early then this will never work
Gotch ya ok!
The main goal is just to allow buyers a few days to cancel without the hassle of sellers having to refund them manually but it seems like you wouldn't recommend this flow?
Do you have another rec based on convos here?
See you had a real question ๐
If your real goal is the for customer (the person paying) to be able to cancel, then that works but that still means you have to build some kind of UI for them to cancel or capture the funds? I don't really get the upside
Upside would be getting a refund (or not get charged) if seller doesn't respond to messages for a few days so ppl don't get charged if seller is flaky or seller wanting to cancel for some reason (e.g., loses item)
Our plan was auto-refunds but not so looking for solutions
open to other ideas if you think this is a bad idea!
I mean if you allow an unresponsive seller to accept payments, you are going to get in trouble ๐
yeahhhh true
That's a recipe for disaster/disputes and real issues over time
But sure as a platform you can do separate authorization and capture. But someone has to capture the funds explicitly (you or the connected account)
Yeah we verify all sellers! And for now I'm talking to all of them too! But that's a good point - not super scalable...
Cool - thanks!
That was the only question for now! Love this channel you guys have been so helpful thanks
Glad we could help ๐ Have a great rest of your day!
