Hello! As far as I know you shouldn't have to detach the card - you can just update the Customer's billing address at https://stripe.com/docs/api/customers/update#update_customer-address

ok but i guess i should make a call to check if the customer billing address is valid?

It's not wrong if that's what you want - but if it's a valid card that your customer wants to conitnue using then you wouldn't want to detach it because then they can't use it anymore
