Hi there! I believe the invoice status remains open. The invoice won't be marked as paid unless the payment succeeded which, in this case, it didn't

what happens to the invoice if the charge succeeds but then is later reversed?

By reversed, you mean you refunded the payment?

The invoice status will not change; it will still be paid if the original payment was successful, even if that payment was later refunded. I believe the same occurs with disputes but we're not disputes experts here.
