Hi there. The previous developer asked me to reopen the case with Stripe support but Stripe support sent me away to WooCommerce, and WooCommerce said this is Stripe's issue.
This is my last resort
Yeesh sorry to hear, can you give me a quick recap of the issue?
I need to export a report through https://stripe.com/docs/reports/balance and have updated the payment descriptions in https://dashboard.stripe.com/payments within each order but the manually updated ones do not show up in the report.
Which balance report type specifically are you exporting here?
And the payments don't show up at all? Or just their new name does not show up?
I'm exporting Balance change from activity as this was advised by Stripe support, and it includes the metadata we need and can customise.
The description of the payments does show but not the updated one. I manually updated them in the payments themselves so technically they should show (?).
Gotcha, and the itemized report specifically it sounds like?
Yes!
How are you updating the payment description here? According to that doc, the description is the one on the Balance Transaction, which would be this field in the API https://stripe.com/docs/api/balance_transactions/object#balance_transaction_object-description
Complete reference documentation for the Stripe API. Includes code snippets and examples for our Python, Java, PHP, Node.js, Go, Ruby, and .NET libraries.
And I don't think you can set it via the dashboard as far as I know
This is what I've previously exported but it only featured the number of the WooCommerce order.
Which is not indicative enough of the actual product.
So shouldn't technically updating it in here update it for the reports as well if this is what previously showed up as well?
I think what you are running in to here is that there are multiple objects in play
Oh god
Can you send me the ID of that payment? pi_123
