@weak hemlock if you visit https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/link what do you see for the first section?
For checkout, if I click the following link for the platform, I see this:
the status is "Turn on" which I assume means off currently
yeah that second picture is not relevant, the first one is what I'm after. Has it always been off or did you just turn it off?
It has always been off
okay so that connected account has it on unfortunately
and there's no way that I know of for you to control this for them in that specific case
Well, I'm looking at the connected account too. It shows that it is "Inherit default (Blocked)"
Then we turned it to "Off" on the connected
yeah sorry, this is just really really hard
there are many many settings and edge-cases. What you're looking at is mostly unrelated
That connected account has that "slider" on for your first picture. It overrides your preference because it's their account and they have full control over this
This is the connected account's settings right now
Ah, that first picture was MY account, not the connected account
haha, this is confusing I admit.
that first picture is your platform, it applies to you and connected account that you own. Sadly in this case you don't "own" that connected account. It's a Standard account connected via OAuth and so they have their own setting for this adn you can't really control it that I know of
But Link will act as a "normal card" in this flow
Wait, I thought I can see her settings?
AIEA is the conencted account. And I can see and change her payment methods via connect.
you're looking at the wrong place ๐
interesting
the picture you just posted is the same as your second picture right?
It's not the same as your first picture
Correct!
Your first picture is https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/link
And you can't view that on the connected account. It's their account, they control it. This is all... super complex (and that's my job to understand it ๐
)
correct
Okay, we will get our connected account to visit that link and check it out ๐
to be clear: you really should keep Link
We also had something else happen... that is difficult to understand. We lost google pay on our checkout session somehow.
obviously I am biased because I work for Stripe, but still I genuinely believe this is incredibly valuable to offer Link. It's a really simple Checkout experience and it makes returning customers way more likely to convert
We changed the connected account config from "Off" to "Blocked" and lost google pay--that is atleast what we obsevered.
I see Google Pay on that URL
Interesting. Why don't I or anyone else? ha
What do you see on this page: https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-js/elements/payment-request-button
yeah okay so see it's not Checkout, it's your computer
Either you don't have Google Pay working, or you are logged into Link already, or you hit some of the 20 edge-cases that can make Chrome not show Google Pay. The most common one is that they have some "rate limiting" logic internally where they skip Google Pay sometimes
What I often recommend is
- Clear all cookies/local storage (to reset Link)
- Reboot
- Try that docs page again
Until you see Google Pay in that Docs page, it's purely a local computer/device configuration issue
yeah it can be... super annoying
I mean as a real consumer it's awesome and makes checking out easy (I use it a lot myself) but when debugging as a developer damn
Okay, thanks. I'll have to check with the connected account
