Client wants users to signup for a stripe account that they manage and maintain themselves rather than as a connected account.
Do you still want to be able to see/control aspects of this account?

Because if not they should just sign up at stripe.com

No we don't want control over the app users accounts, that's the current setup and is more admin for the business and less visiblity/control for the users

Is there api functionality to replicate the behaviour of signing up through stripe.com, just think it would be better for usability if they could register/use stripe without having to leave the app

No not if you want a standalone

They need to complete sign up flow at stripe.com

API is for connect account/some relationship to your platform account

don't need too much detail and can go through api docs later when I have more time but do you know if there are endpoints for:
viewing account balance,
requesting payout to external account,
viewing payments/statement

This is the main functionality the client is missing

You can only request payout to external account though if manual payouts are enabled

You'd need to disable automatic payouts

that is fine, think we want to make it manual anyway to give the connected accounts control/flexibility
