I am not immediately aware of a way to do this. Will reach out to my colleagues and get back to you
@orchid escarp I don't think that's possible to configure on a per reader or anything
This is something you do in your app where you control how to connect but there's no way to block the end user to manually connect via bluetooth to their own phone for example
is it possible as an end user to do it?
I don't really know what you could mean by that. do what?
Sorry, is there a setting in the reader device to disable bluetooth as an option? Or does it stop trying to pair if its connected over usb? Just feels like connecting it via usb and leaving a flashing bluetooth pairing sign on the reader is asking for trouble

no
and leaving a flashing bluetooth pairing sign on the reader is asking for trouble
why? What's the risk?
@orchid escarp are you still around? You never replied
Oh sorry, discord didnt ping
A bad actor paring to the bluetooth?
Who would be the bad actor exactly?
I would think someone able to get to the device in a retail setting and pair to it
Hello ๐
We usually don't recommend using Stripe Readers in unmonitored environments, so we expect there to be a staff member/merchant to be present and monitoring
However, I do understand the usecase here. It isn't something we support today.
Okie doke. When a usb connection to an app is established, will it stop broadcasting for Bluetooth pairing?
I'd recommend writing in via support form to raise a feature request

My understanding is that you won't see it in discovery, yeah
I haven't tested it myself though

Brill, thanks very much for the help. My usecase is in a very RF hostile environment, so wanting to keep to usb and the android device will be on an ethernet connection.
Will submit a request ๐
Makes sense. Based on the docs here, I'd expect the reader to be unavailable for bluetooth connection when USB is connected
