No, there's no way to get a Payment Intent on an invoice that hasn't been finalized yet.

With Payment Element are you using the deferred flow where the intent clietn secret is provided at the end? Or are you tryign to provide it when elements is initialized?

I need to double check. It seems like the deferred flow is what I am looking for.

If you're using the deferred flow then you should be able to listen for the your customer presses your "pay" button, finalize the invoice, get the client secret, and then continue with confirmation
