For customer portal integration, it doesn't support only updating the subscription after the cycle ends. Any upgrade will take effect immediately. You can set whether to have proration in the Dashboard settings: https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/settings/billing/portal

So I have no way for customers to update their subscription after the cycle ends? Is there no other way??
you can build your own feature using Subscription Schedules. It's unfortunately not a feature that is available via the Customer Portal right now. if you would like to see more support for this feature, I'd suggest writing in via https://support.stripe.com/contact/email to explain your use case/feature request as that helps the product team capture demand for prioritisation
